Leading food product manufacturer chooses Antares Air Dryer

When a leading Food Product Company from Ayrshire started having reliability issues with their air quality, Kerr’s were on hand to offer advice on the correct solution from both a capital and energy efficiency perspective.

Having already replaced their compressors with Energy Efficient HPC/Kaeser Models, all being controlled by a Sigma Air Manager, Energy Efficiency was a high priority in the new dryer selection.

The old Zander Heat Regenerative Desiccant Dryers fitted were costly to operate and maintain, and with lack of availability on spare parts, we were given the added remit to ensure that the dryer proposed was modern, reliable and efficient.

Parker Hiross recently launched the Antares Twin Technology Air Dryer (ATT). The ATT is unique in its design that it incorporates both a refrigerant and desiccant dryer all within a single package. As a result of the design configuration of the components within the dryer, the Heat Regenerative Desiccant can be reduced in size. This therefore reduces the ongoing maintenance costs.

Desiccant Dryers unfortunately require a purge air flow to enable the dryer to regenerate. In a Heat-Less Desiccant Dryer this can be as much as 18-20% of the dryer’s capacity, whilst with a Heat Regenerative Dryer this can be typically 8% plus the cost of the Heater to operate. The ATT Dryer has a low 3% Average Purge flow, plus also the cost of a smaller heater to operate. Therefore the operational costs of the ATT are significantly reduced compared to the other two types.

This in turn provides a return of investment of less than 2 years when compared to a Heat-Less Dryer.

With the Parker Hiross ATT140 Twin Technology Dryer now installed and working in conjunction with the HPC/Kaeser Compressors & Parker Domick Hunter Filtration & Oil Vapour Removal Unit, our customer is assured that his air quality requirement of ISO 8573.1:2010 Class 1 Oil, 2 Water, 1 Dirt is continuously met.

Volvo Truck and Bus choose HPC again

As a provider of compressors to Volvo Truck & Bus Scotland over the past 20 years, when it was time to replace an old, inefficient and unreliable Rollair 50 at one of their service centres, it was an obvious choice to select another HPC/Kaeser Compressor.

After investigation of the site requirements, a 25 kW Variable Frequency Drive Compressor c/w Integral Refrigerant Air Dryer, Model ASD47 T SFC was installed. This unit has to run 24/7 to meet the demands of the Volvo Workshop, but does this efficiently by only producing the amount of compressed air required at any given time.

Like all New HPC/Kaeser Compressors, it is fitted with an IE3 Electric Drive Motor combined with the World Renowned Sigma Profile airend. The package also comes complete with a Five Year Parts & Labour Warranty.

All radial forces are borne by four robust cylinder roller bearings, which are rated to ensure long screw blower airend service life. The rollers are encased in high-tech cages for optimum lubrication at all speeds.
